Here at Zion, we have an active Sunday School program for children ages Pre-K through Confirmation (8th grade). Our children Pre-K through 6th grade meet every Sunday at 9am in the Sanctuary for Singing where they explore God’s work through Singing and Praise. They proceed to their classrooms until 10:15 where we learn about God’s work through bible reading, lessons, crafts and how to demonstrate God’s love in our community, home and school. Our confirmation children (7th & 8th grade) meet every Sunday in our “Teen” room at 9am – 10:15 where they explore leadership skills, their role in the bigger world, making choices demonstrating God’s love, and finish the final chapter of learning about their baptism into Christ by obtaining their Confirmation milestone. The Sunday School season is the week following Labor Day through the week preceding Memorial Day. We are proud that our children have fun while learning about God through activities, friends and fellowship. We always welcome friends, family and any child interested in coming to Sunday School. If you are interested, please email Kate Brauen @ [email protected] or see Pastor Rod (or just show up and we will chat then).
In addition to Sunday School, we offer youth group programs for 1st – 12th grade where the kids enjoy additional fellowship and spending time with their friends.
Our ROCK group is for 7-12th grade where they do activities of community service, WNY ELCA youth group events, and sometimes simply fun events.
Every mission makes a difference and our children are proud to do community service involving the local nursing homes, Food Pantry, Salvation Army, etc. The meeting location varies based on event and is published to the Zion Confirmation group and in our Church Bulletins – stay tuned! If you are interested, please email Pastor Rod @ [email protected] (or just show up and we will chat then).
Our “Little ROCK” group is for 1st-6th grade where they do the same type of activities as ROCK while considering age appropriateness. We have fun working on community outreach while also doing movie nights, apple picking, crafts and local activities. This group gets the kids used to youth group and they enjoy moving up to the older group @ 7th grade, as they get to partake in over-nighters / late night events, larger ELCA events, etc (which they all enjoy!). We welcome any children ages 1st-6th that would like to be in youth group. Meeting locations and dates vary based on event and is published to the Zion Sunday School group and Church Bulletins – stay tuned! If you are interested, please email Tracey Waters @ [email protected] or see Pastor Rod (or just show up and we will chat then).
